Screen Recorder

Record a tutorial, a bug or a meeting straight from your browser and save the video — no app to install and no watermark.

screen recorder

☞ runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded

This browser cannot record the screen. Use Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer — phones and tablets do not allow it, but both iPhone and Android have a screen recorder built into the control panel.

no install

Record your screen in the browser you already have

Showing someone how to do something is usually quicker than writing it down: a click-by-click walkthrough for a colleague, a bug that only happens when you do things in a certain order, a slide deck with your voice over it. Screen recording normally means installing an app, signing up, or putting up with a watermark. Here you press start, choose what to share, and the browser records it.

The video is recorded by your browser and kept on your computer until you download it — it is never uploaded, so a recording of your inbox or an internal dashboard stays private. Sound from the shared tab and your microphone can be mixed into the same recording, you can pause and resume, and the result is saved as MP4 wherever the browser can make one, which plays on almost any device.

three steps

How to record your screen

01

Choose the sound

Tick whether to capture sound from what you share and whether to add your microphone. Your browser asks for permission the first time.

02

Pick what to share and record

Press start and choose the whole screen, an application window or one browser tab. A timer shows how long you have been recording; pause whenever you need to.

03

Stop and download

Press stop, or use the browser’s own stop-sharing button. Watch the recording right on the page and download it as a video file.

quick answers

Screen recorder FAQ

Is the recording uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser records the video directly into memory on your computer, and downloading it saves that file to your disk. There is no server involved, so private screens stay private.

Which format is the video saved in?

MP4 with H.264 video wherever your browser supports it, which covers Chrome, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers. Browsers that cannot write MP4 save WebM instead; the page tells you which one you got after recording.

Can I record system sound?

It depends on the browser and operating system. Sharing a single browser tab records that tab’s sound in most desktop browsers. Recording the sound of the whole computer is only offered on some systems — if the option does not appear when you choose what to share, it is not available there.

Can I record my voice at the same time?

Yes. Tick the microphone option before you start and your voice is mixed with the sound from the screen into a single audio track.

Is there a time limit?

No limit is set, but the recording is held in your browser’s memory until you download it. A few minutes is no problem; for recordings well over an hour, record in shorter parts to avoid running out of memory.

Does it work on a phone?

No. Mobile browsers do not let websites capture the screen. Use the recorder built into your phone instead — on iPhone it is in Control Centre, and most Android phones have one in the quick settings panel.

Will there be a watermark?

No. The video contains exactly what was on your screen, with no logo or text added.

Can I turn the recording into a GIF?

Yes. Download the video, then open it in our Video to GIF tool and pick the few seconds you want.
