Show exactly what you mean on a screenshot

A screenshot with nothing on it leaves people hunting for the point: which button, which number, which line of the error. An arrow and a box answer that at a glance, a short note explains it, and pixelation hides the email address or account number you did not mean to share. This tool does those four things and keeps out of the way.

It is built for the way screenshots are actually used. Take the screenshot, press Ctrl+V on this page, mark it up, then copy the result back to your clipboard and paste it into a chat, ticket or email — or download it as a file. Line thickness and text size adapt to the size of the screenshot, so annotations look right on a phone capture and on a 4K monitor. Everything stays in your browser.

three steps

How to annotate a screenshot

01

Paste or open the screenshot

Press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac) to paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard, or drop in a PNG, JPG or WebP file.

02

Mark it up

Choose Arrow, Box, Text or Pixelate, pick a colour and thickness, and drag across the picture. For text, click where it should go, type, and press Enter. Undo and redo as you go.

03

Copy or download

Copy the annotated image to paste it anywhere, or download it. Screenshots are saved as PNG so text and lines stay crisp.

quick answers

Annotate screenshot FAQ

Can I paste a screenshot instead of uploading it?

Yes. Take a screenshot as usual, then press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) anywhere on this page and it opens immediately. Nothing is uploaded — the image goes from your clipboard into the browser tab.

Is pixelation safe for hiding passwords or numbers?

Not always. Short text such as a PIN or a few digits can sometimes be guessed from coarse blocks. For anything sensitive, use the Box tool with the solid option, which covers the area completely with no trace of what was underneath.

Can I move or edit an annotation after drawing it?

Not yet. Use Undo to remove the last annotation and draw it again. Undo and redo work for as many steps as you need, and Clear all can be undone too.

How do I copy the result?

Press Copy image and paste it into your chat, email or document. Copying images works in current Chrome, Edge and Safari; if your browser does not allow it, use Download instead.

Why is the arrow so thick on a large screenshot?

Thickness scales with the size of the image, so annotations look the same once the screenshot is viewed at normal size. Choose Thin if you want finer lines.

What format is the file saved in?

Screenshots and pasted images are saved as PNG, which keeps text and lines sharp. A JPG you open stays JPG and a WebP stays WebP.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Open a screenshot from your photos and draw with your finger. Pasting from the clipboard depends on your phone and browser; choosing the file always works.

Is my screenshot uploaded?

No. The image is opened, annotated and saved entirely in your browser. Screenshots often show private conversations and account details, so nothing is sent anywhere.
