Generate QR codes and barcodes, read them back out of an image, and encode files as Base64 text.

Guide

Small tools, no setup

The helpers in this section are the ones you reach for a few times a week — turning a link into a QR code, pulling the text back out of a code someone screenshotted, pasting an image into a stylesheet as Base64. Every one of them runs on your own machine: the file never leaves the browser, there is nothing to install, no account to create and no queue to wait in.

QR codes, barcodes and Base64

A QR code is plain text drawn as a grid of black and white squares, so anything short enough fits: a URL, a Wi-Fi password, or a whole contact card in vCard format that a phone camera can add straight to the address book. Barcodes are the same idea in one dimension and are still what retail and logistics systems read. Base64 goes the other way — it rewrites binary data as ASCII characters so an image can be pasted directly into HTML, CSS or a JSON payload with no separate file request. Decoding works just as well: drop in a photo of a code and the reader hands the text back, and if the picture is blurry or skewed the cleaner sharpens it first.
