1000 × 1500

Two to three is the shape that gets shown

Pinterest recommends 2:3, and 1000 × 1500 is the usual way to hit it. The ratio matters more than the pixel count because the feed is a set of columns of fixed width: a pin taller than 2:3 gets truncated with a "see more" rather than shown whole, and a pin shorter than that simply takes up less of a column and less attention. Two to three is the tallest shape that still appears in full.

The other half of a pin is that it usually carries text, and that text is read at column width — a few hundred pixels on a phone. A title set at what looks like a comfortable size on your screen will be unreadable there. Crop at 1000 × 1500 so the proportions are right, then judge the text by shrinking the preview to about the width of your thumb rather than by how it looks at full size.

three steps

How to make a Pinterest pin

01

Drop your image in

PNG, JPG or WebP. It is decoded in the page — nothing is uploaded, so nothing waits on a connection.

02

Move the box

The crop box is already locked to the 2:3 shape. Drag it over the part that matters and resize it from any corner; the pixel size is shown as you go.

03

Download

The export is exactly 1000 × 1500. PNG keeps overlaid text sharp; JPEG is smaller for photographs.

quick answers

Pinterest pin size FAQ

What size should a Pinterest pin be?

2:3 — 1000 × 1500 pixels is the standard, and that is what this page exports. Larger versions of the same ratio work equally well; the ratio is what the feed cares about.

What happens if my pin is taller than 2:3?

It is cut off in the feed and shown in full only after a tap. Longer infographic pins are sometimes designed for that deliberately, but for most pins it costs more than it gains.

Why is the text on my pin hard to read?

Because pins are displayed at column width, often only a few hundred pixels across. Text that looks fine while you are editing at full size can be illegible in the feed — check it small before you publish.

Does anything get uploaded here?

No. The image is cropped and resized in your browser and never leaves your device.
