Drag over a face, a name, a card number or a street sign and that area is replaced by a mosaic. Two sliders control it: brush size is how much of the image each stroke covers, block size is how coarse the mosaic squares are. They do different jobs, and the second one is the one that matters for privacy.
The mosaic is baked into the exported pixels, not drawn as an overlay — there is no layer to peel off and no original hiding underneath. Exporting also drops the metadata, so a photo that carried GPS coordinates comes out without them.

Drag across faces, names or numbers. Set the block size coarse enough that the shape underneath is unreadable, then check at full zoom before you export.
Export as PNG, JPG or WebP with the mosaic baked into the pixels. Reset strokes puts the original back if you need to start again.
quick answers
Not reliably. A mosaic keeps the average colour of each block, and for text in a known font that leaks enough to reconstruct the characters. Use a very coarse block, or paint a solid shape over it in any editor, when the content actually matters.
Coarse enough that the region reads as a handful of squares rather than a blurry version of the original. If you can still make out the shape of a face or the rhythm of a word, it is too fine.
Reset strokes restores the original image and you paint again. There is no per-stroke undo, so work in short passes on a large area.
No. The mosaic is written into the pixel data before export — it is not an overlay, and there is no hidden layer in the file.
Yes, as a side effect. The image is re-encoded from a canvas, and canvas export carries no metadata, so camera model, timestamp and GPS location do not survive. Use the EXIF viewer first if you want to see what was there.
