Why export WebP instead of PNG
WebP keeps the alpha channel like PNG but compresses far better — for the same artwork you routinely get a file a third of the size, which is why it has become the default for images on the web.
Every current browser supports it. The place to be careful is outside the browser: some desktop apps, older email clients and a few upload forms still do not accept WebP, and there PNG or JPG remains the safe answer.
