Screenshots belong in a PDF losslessly

Converters that turn your PNGs into JPEG on the way into the PDF ruin exactly the thing PNG is good at. Small text picks up grey fringes, thin lines smear, and screenshots of code or spreadsheets end up looking like photocopies.

This page embeds each PNG as it is, so the page in the PDF is pixel-identical to the file you dropped in. It runs entirely in your browser, which means the screenshot of your dashboard is not uploaded to anyone.

quick answers

PNG to PDF FAQ

Is anything re-compressed?

No. PNG files are embedded byte for byte, so the result is lossless. The one exception is “fill the page”, where the crop has to be applied before embedding.

What happens to transparent areas?

Transparency is preserved in the file, but a PDF page is white underneath, so transparent areas simply look white. If you need a specific background colour, add it to the PNG first.

Can I add JPG files too?

Not on this page — it only accepts PNG. Use the Image to PDF tool if you have a mix of formats.

My screenshots look small on an A4 page — what should I change?

Choose “Fit to image” so each page takes the shape of the screenshot, or set orientation to Auto so wide images land on landscape pages. Reducing the margin helps too.

How many images can I combine?

Up to 50 at a time, each up to 25 MB. Large lossless PNGs add up quickly, so the PDF can get big.

Are my images uploaded?

No. They are read and written into a PDF entirely inside your browser.
